Learning at Home

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your might. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart; you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." - Deuteronomy 6:5-9

Learning Language Arts Through Literature is a complete language arts program for first grade through high school.
Integrated Language Arts skills
Using an integrated approach to teaching, students learn the skills appropriate for each grade level in the context of quality literature.
Real literature
Reading real books instead of basal stories makes reading more attractive to the student. This creates a deeper understanding and generates greater interest in grammar, writing mechanics, vocabulary, spelling, and other language skills. The goal of any language arts program should be to equip the student for a lifetime of communication through the written and spoken word.
Easy-to-use
All levels are written for a 36 week school year. Grades 1-8 include a Teacher’s Book written in a conversational format making it easy to use with little or no preparation time for the teacher. Student Activity Books are available for the 1st - 8th grade. All levels include review activities and assessments.

The Math-U-See Curriculum is a complete and comprehensive K–12 math curriculum. Each level concentrates on a specific set of skills, while continuously reviewing and integrating topics and concepts presented in previous levels. By using tools such as videos, manipulatives, and other resources, the Math-U-See Curriculum is designed to appeal to all types of learners in a variety of learning environments.

The Sassafras Science Adventures series chronicles the adventures of Blaine & Tracey Sassafras as they spend the summers learning all about science. The series of books is a mixture of Classical and Charlotte Mason Eduction Styles. Each year 2 books are read with the various encyclopedias and then the lapbook or logbook and activities and science experiments are done. This series can be used once with the small ones from around grades 1-4 and them from grade 5 onwards they can be used independently by the child. We use them as our spine for the first 4 years and then from grade 5 we use Dr Jay Wile Science.

Some of the High School Science is out of print. Dr Jay Wile is in the process of rewriting the high school science curriculum. As soon as I know more I will share the replacements here for you.

I absolutely love Carrie (from 1000s of Roots & Homestead Living) approach to teaching Godly Character to her beautiful children. We have downloaded the cards for ourselves and use them.
Watch her video to find out more about them - how to use them - and where you can get your hands on them too!
