Homemade Oreos

Biscuits.. Cookies…. Small Cakes.. Biscotto

Name them what you will – they are my nemesis.

I have never been able to get them right! I either take them out after a few minutes longer than they should have been in for or not left them in for as long as they should be there for! I even cheated and bought a ready-mix pack and STILL a flop!

Not anymore… I can now bake Munchies

Go on and pop that oven on 190 degrees C

The funny story behind this recipe is that I was actually looking for a homemade Wine recipe and then found this one…. I came across this gorgeous little blog that had just that.. Wine making, fermenting, Wine making, off the grid living, Recipes, Wine making… oh and did I mention Wine making? You got to pop on over to Rough Draft Homestead.

Ok… let me move on… this is about Oreo Munchies and Not about Wine Girlfriend!!

Right then… go get yourself the following out of the pantry…

1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup coco
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup honey
1/2 cup butter
1 large egg

I’m kinda a messy baker.. Thank goodness for my dishwasher.

That’s all it is… for now… Easy – Right?

While they do the licking…

The first batch has gone in and come out… It took literally 6 minutes.. I kid you not 6 minutes!!

So now while the munchies are cooling…

The icing filling is being whipped up ~ all you going to need is

1/2 cup butter

1 1/2 cups icing sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla

1 teaspoon milk

And then pop it in the fridge to cool and set slightly.

So they are all ready now…? Plaster that icing between two gorgeous munchies – squish them down together..

AND

VOILA!!

Homemade Oreo Munchies!

It's a pleasure....... Enjoy!

Blooming Super Moon

Did you all get to see the Super Full Moon last night…… ?
We had cloud cover and the lightest of sprinklings of rain. I may not have seen Luna but I sure did feel her…!

Well I for one am slightly elated that we are now on the waning gibbous.. The lead up to said Super Moon has played havoc on our once tranquil life. If there was anything else that could go wrong through last week well then…. &^%#!

On a normal Full Moon, yes our Lifestead does become a little crazy. My family do tend to get all hyped. But this one was Super ~ Rob ended up with migraine (thank the stars I keep Tissue Salt no 8 on hand! I may just have to get a few more bottles at the rate he is guzzling down on them ;) ) and the Boys, well..
I kept them outside to just release all that pent up all sorts!! Whew….

21 days of laying

But then again…… On Saturday, Mama Mavis blessed us with a new little fluffy butt to add to our growing homestead… <3

happy hatch day

I am a Granny you all!!! AND I am so super proud. I was planning to wait until all the little peeplings were hatched.. Oh wait – you don’t know!! We found the missing eggs  that Pookaloo DID in fact lay… They are all hidden warmly under Mavis!! :) The egg-napper!!

I am spent.. And I am so looking forward to a little of a breather.

Time waits for no man or in this case woman…. So I have to get myself busying again with our gifts for our special family up north for their Yule celebrations!

Easy Peezy Aroma Play Dough

Who says that playdough is just for the munchkins?

ahem… Girlfriend loves the stuff and I always make sure that come the colder winter months of the year we are stocked up!

I never buy the store bought varieties that you can get ‘ cause you never know what toxic ingredients are looming in the gooey store bought doughs.

Making the dough is so super easy and its another one of my go too's for the holidays where I can get the boys involved in something crafty! Oh and not to mention the essential oils added contribute to the wonderous experience.

1 cup water
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp. cream of tarter
Food colouring – I usually put 4-6 drops depending how dark I want the color

Combine all the ingredients together in a pot.

Turn the stove on to medium heat and continuously stir until everything sticks together into one ball.

Then place the sticky dough onto wax paper or you can just use your counter top.

Let it cool a couple minutes and break into sections. Then knead in the colours and a drop or two of your choice of oils until smooth.

I chose these beautiful oils for our fresh new batch
*Light Pink we used Jasmine for restoration and protection
*Pink we used Rose for contentment and love
*Orange we used Orange for luck and creativity
*Green we used Eucalyptus for balancing and healing
*Turquoise we used Peppermint for concentration and purification
*Blue we used Lavender for calm and happiness

No excuses now….

Go get yourself in the Kitchen and rock n roll up some play dough for yourself and those cuteness munchkins!

Oh So Easy Coconut Fudge

You know when you have one of those recipes you are just way too excited about and just cant wait to share?

Yes – those ones… Well this is one of those ones!

I have been feeling a little guilty of late, I haven’t really knuckled down and tucked in to whipping up something different for the boys for a little while now. Its kinda been the same old thing… My eldest has been opening a couple of boxes of instant pudding to sate the younger brothers need for “is there pudding tonight?” nightly question as they gobble down the last bites of their supper.

Instant pudding YUK but its one of those go to quick n easy help-this-Mama-out poisons that I do unfortunately keep in the pantry cupboard. Yes… slap my wrists!! I am a terrible.. But in all fairness I really didn’t feel well last week and prolonged standing in the heat just wasn’t going to inspire any creativity or much of a stern look at what exactly the brothers were deciding was healthy to eat!!

So overcome with guilt and feeling a little on the better side I paged through the almost endless pages of recipes I still got to whip up for the family sometime.

And… I’m so super happy I did.. And so are the boys!!

It’s so super easy and the ingredients are so super awesome you just cant go wrong with it!

  • 1 cup coco powder

  • 1 cup honey

  • 1 cup coconut oil

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • a tiny pinch of salt

AND THAT IS IT!!!

oh and of course just a little whipping

See how fast my little ol’ mixer goes…

whizzzzzz….

And then all I did was line a dish with baking paper, pour the heavenly goo in and sprinkle with coconut (okay that was my added extra… coconut…. I love coconut!)

Popped it into the fridge and before I knew it …..

Bobs you aunty or uncle or even sister… And it was set!!

Heaven.... Girlfriend and family are in heaven!

The Season Of Awakenings

Tis time for the beginnings of Spring!
Where we will be keeping our eyes to the skies as the migratory birds start returning. The flittering signs of new growth shall appear as our acceptance of Winter is giving way to urge on new growth and stretch new shoots of beautiful brilliant greens and new life for the coming of Spring….
I have to admit that I have noticed, as I go about my early morning chores, the brilliance of our sunrise has been creeping up every so slowly but also earlier. The signs of Spring are slowly starting to show in the tiniest of little green leaf buds along our fence line.

We have also been blessed, this week, with our Pookaloo laying her first egg! New beginnings….
The boys were quite right in saying we should keep them for today, as now we have 3 little beautiful blessings to add to our Custard for pudding tonight.
